Ideal World gelding makes it three in a row

Mauritzfontein’s successful stallion Ideal World is enjoying another good season in 2024-2025. The son of Kingmambo struck again when his talented son Tamarisk Tree won at Turffontein on Saturday.

In the process, the five-year-old made it three wins on the bounce.

Trained by Robbie Sage, Tamarisk Tree was given a fine ride by Muzi Yeni in Saturday’s For Hospitality Bookings Call 011 681 1796 Pinnacle Stakes (1800m).

Yeni bought his mount with a well timed run, and Tamarisk Tree stayed on to score cosily by a length.

Among those beaten by Tamarisk Tree on Saturday were multiple G1 winner Purple Pitcher and G2 TAB Gauteng Guineas runner up Hotarubi.

Now a six time winner, Tamarisk Tree took his earnings to over R660 000 with his victory on Saturday.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the gelding was a R340 000 buy from the 2021 August Two Year Old Sale.

Tamarisk Tree is out of the Belong To Me mare Milk And Honey, and is bred on similar lines to the Ideal World sired stakes winners Onesie and Perfection.

His sire Ideal World, whose son Hodgepodge won at Hollywoodbets Greyville recently, is also sire of Parisian Walkway, winner of the recent G2 TAB Gauteng Guineas, and an entrant for the G1 TAB SA Derby.

A son of the mighty Kingmambo, Ideal World has a single lot on offer at the National Yearling Sale.
