Mauritzfontein’s well bred stallion Danon Platina made news at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday when his daughter Regeneration made a winning debut.
Trained by Robbie Hill, Regeneration made a big impression when landing the Bet With Tabgold -The Intelligent Bet! Maiden Plate (F and M) over 1200 metres.
Under Marco Van Rensburg, the three-year-old unleashed a fine turn of foot which propelled Regeneration into the lead and she stormed away to win by nearly a length and three quarters.
It was a 1-2 finish for Danon Platina, with Regeneration beating her paternal half-sister Panthera Uncia into second spot.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Regeneration is out of the Champs Elysees mare Redesign.
The filly was an R80 000 buy from the 2023 November Two Year Old Sale.
Danon Platina, whose son Rapidash ran second in the recent Listed Settlers Trophy, went close to having a double at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday. His son Luhamba Phambili ran second, to the very exciting Cat’s Pajamas, in the fifth race, with another son, The Mikado, finishing third in Greyville’s fourth race.
