DANON PLATINA LEADS THE WAY

Mauritzfontein’s beautifully bred young stallion Danon Platina has made a fine start with his first yearlings on sale this season, and the son of the legendary Deep Impact enjoyed more first-crop sales ring success this week.

Danon Platina ended Thursday’s KZN Yearling Sale as the Leading First Season Sire by Aggregate.
The handsome grey had just six yearlings on sale, but all six offered were sold for an aggregate of R1.12 million, placing Danon Platina behind just Vercingetorix and Rafeef on the Leading Sires by Aggregate list on Thursday.

Danon Platina had two fillies make R400 000 apiece at this year’s KZN Yearling, with the Boland Stud consigned (as Agent) filly out of Bargeme sold to Zeyn Kirsten for that amount and Jehan Malherbe snapping up Mauritzfontein’s Danon Platina filly Powder Blue for the same amount.

The former Japanese champion had also enjoyed notable success at the National Yearling Sale earlier in the year, where Danon Platina sired yearlings made up to R700 000.

Japan’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2014, the G1 winning Danon Platina shares his legendary sire with numerous champions including the likes of 2000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior, French Derby winner Study Of Man, Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf queen Loves Only You, ill-fated Cazoo Oaks winner Snowfall and numerous Japanese classic winners and champions.
