By May 25, 2023 No Comments

Mauritzfontein’s exciting young sire Danon Platina is showing strong signs of becoming a top-class stallion, with the champion son of Deep Impact having made a cracking start with his first two-year-olds this season.
At the time of writing, Danon Platina is South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2022-2023 by both individual winners and by individual wins, and he is second, only to Lancaster Bomber, as Leading First Season Sire by stakes.
With a number of bigger two-year-old feature races yet to come this season, Danon Platina could well over take Lancaster Bomber as the season winds down.
Danon Platina also sports an impressive Average Earnings Per Runner with his first crop’s AEPR of R40 085 -and he is the Leading First Season this year by Average Earnings Per Runner. Currently, Danon Platina sports a higher AEPR than such top-class South African stallions as Vercingetorix, Trippi, Rafeef and Querari to name but a few.
His ten first winners include the exciting filly Platina Princess, Romance In Rome -winner of two of his first four starts, debut winner Oriental Bouquet, and the highly regarded White Pearl. The latter followed up a good second place finish on debut with an eye catching win at Turffontein on her only other appearance, and White Pearl looks destined for bigger and better things.
With a host of unraced two-year-olds yet to grace the tracks, and with a number of runners appearing to be winners in waiting, Danon Platina’s statistics look bound to improve still further come the end of the season.
Japan’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2014, Danon Platina is one of 195 stakes winners for his legendary sire Deep Impact, Champion Sire in Japan for 11 years running, and already sire of such proven G1 sires as Kizuna, Real Impact, Satono Aladdin and Saxon Warrior.
Deep Impact, Leading Sire of 2YOs in Japan on 11 occasions, has produced more than 1300 winners, with his stock having not only dominated Japanese racing but also capturing such major international races as the 2000 Guineas, Cazoo Oaks, French Derby, Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, Dubai Sheema Classic, French 1000 Guineas, Makybe Diva Stakes, Irish Oaks, Prix d’Ispahan, Hong Kong Cup, and French Oaks.
