Mauritzfontein’s well bred stallion Danon Platina came up with a smart looking winner at at Fairview on Friday afternoon.

His two-year-old son Hideki made a winning debut on Friday when he won the second race run at Fairview.

Under the record chasing Richard Fourie, the Alan Greeff trained colt put his head down where it mattered most to claim Friday’s Racing240 For Racing. For You Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m) by a neck.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Hideki is out of the Captain Al mare Captain’s Dove.

The colt was a R375 000 purchase from the 2023 August Two Year Old Sale.

His sire Danon Platina has made a bright start to his stud career, with the Japanese champion’s first crop headed by Cape Racing Gold Rush winner Rapidash, G3 Betway Fillies Mile runner up White Pearl, the stakes placed Oni San and G1 SplashOut Cape Derby contender Harajuku.

A son of legendary racehorse and sire Deep Impact, Danon Platina has 14 lots on offer at the 2024 National Yearling Sale, including a half-brother (Lot 15) to dual G1 winner Desert Miracle, and a filly (Lot 268) out of the Silvano sired G1 winner Orchid Island.
