
Japanese champion Danon Platina had a good day on Friday. The son of Deep Impact was responsible for two winners on the day, with Danon Platina gelding Malongane finishing second in the second race at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Danon Platina’s first success on the day came when his daughter Genovefa won the second race at Fairview.
Trained by Kelly Mitchley, Genovefa unleashed a fine turn of foot which saw her get up close home to win the Racing Today Maiden Plate (F and M) (1200m) by a head.
Ridden by Louis Mxothwa, the Wicklow Stud bred Genovefa is out of the Captain Al mare Skipping Gal.
Genovefa, who was making her first start in the Eastern Cape on Friday, races for Des de Andrade & Scott Gaskell.
Danon Platina’s second success on Friday came when his daughter Grand Occasion won the www.galloptv.co.za Class 4 (F and M) (1600m) for Gareth Van Zyl and Nicholas Patel.
The Boland Stud bred filly dug down deep to land Friday night’s contest by just under a length for owners Messrs H F Schwegmann & J Te Riele.
Now a two time winner, Grand Occasion is out of the Visionaire mare Missibaba.
By the same sire as such high-class stallions as Kizuna, Study Of Man, and Satono Aladdin, Danon Platina has some very exciting three-year-olds this season. This group includes the likes of Absolutely Yes, Aristocratic, Tina Lovelace and Pomp It Up.
