IDEAL WORLD FILLY LANDS BETWAY SUMMER CUP

By December 1, 2025No Comments
Mauritzfontein’s veteran sire Ideal World was the toast of Turffontein racecourse on Saturday.

His four-year-old daughter Mocha Blend defied her starting price of 100-1 to win Saturday’s G1 Betway Summer Cup (2000m).
In the process, the filly became Ideal World’s 34th stakes winner and his fourth G1 winner.

A first G1 winner for Frank Robinson and Tristan Godden, Mocha Blend was given a superb ride by the latter.
In the run for home, Tristan Godden took the shortest route down the inside rail but had to switch at a crucial moment around The Equator, as Andrew Fortune stepped on the pedal down the middle on the 40-1 Olivia’s Way.
Godden kept his mount going, however, and the pair went on to claim the R6 000 000 feature by half a length.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein (she is owned by Mauritzfontein), Mocha Blend has won three of nine starts with her maiden G1 win taking her earnings to R3 739 213.

One of two runners in the Summer Cup for her sire, Mocha Blend is out of the Silvano mare Mocha Special.

She joins champions Rainbow Bridge and Smart Call, as well as G1 SA Derby winner Samurai Warrior, as Ideal World sired G1 winners.
