Mauritzfontein’s beautifully bred young sire Danon Platina made a big impression at Sunday’s November Two Year Old Sale.

Danon Platina two-year-olds averaged an impressive R402 500 at Sunday’s sale, making the Japanese champion the third Leading Sire by Average at this year’s November Two Year Old Sale.
He had three two-year-olds fetch R500 000 apiece on Sunday, with filly Follow The Sun (Lot 146) sold to Syrilla Stud, and colts Japanese Star (Lot 109) and Rototo (Lot 108) sold to Form Bloodstock and JASM Solutions respectively.
Danon Platina, whose first crop race this season, was himself an exceptional two-year-old and Japan’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2014.
His outstanding sire Deep Impact looks to have come up with an outstanding young sire in the shape of G1 Qipco 2000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior. The latter made a breathtaking start with his first two-year-olds in 2022 headed by G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Victoria Road -one of three first crop group winning two-year-olds for Saxon Warrior!
