Mauritzfontein’s resident sires Danon Platina and Ideal World both enjoyed notable success at the recently concluded National Yearling Sale, which took place in Germiston on Thursday and Friday.
Deep Impact’s champion son Danon Platina has made a cracking start with his first yearlings have already proven popular prior to the 2022 National Sale, and Danon Platina built on that success at the National Yearling Sale.
Danon Platina had 14 yearlings fetch R4.415 million, with his lots averaging R315 357 in total.
His top priced lot was a colt (Lot 358) named Plaza Accord who was knocked down to Peter Muscutt for R700 000. Plaza Accord, who was consigned by Varsfontein Stud, is out of Judpot’s well performed daughter Double Whammy, whose four wins included a score in the G3 Diana Stakes.
Danon Platina had other members of his first crop make R600 000 and R450 000 -certainly a very promising start!
Mauritzfontein’s consistently successful Kingmambo horse Ideal World, whose current flagbearers include Michaelmas Handicap winner Donald McDonald and recent Kings Cup victor Cat Daddy, also made headlines at this year’s National Sale.
The sire of South Africa’s reigning Horse Of The Year Rainbow Bridge, Ideal World had a Wilgerbosdrift consigned colt Hoodia (Lot 249) make R850 000 when he was knocked down to Sabine Plattner at the 2022 National Sale.
