Mauritzfontein’s inform stallion Danon Platina has had a good week, and the champion son of Deep Impact struck again on Thursday.
Danon Platina, who had two winners at the Vaal on Tuesday, has some very promising two-year-olds this season and he had another juvenile winner at Turffontein on Thursday.
Danon Platina filly Versace Onthetrack built on a runner up effort on debut when she won Thursday’s 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1000m).
Under S’Manga Khumalo, the Fabian Habib trained filly dug down deep to shed her maiden second time out by a neck.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Versace Onthetrack is out of the Danehill Dancer mare Beautiful Muriel.
The filly was a R110 000 buy from the 2024 August Two Year Old Sale.
Versace Onthetrack is the fifth two-year-old winner this season for Danon Platina, himself Japan’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2014.
Danon Platina’s second success on Thursday came when his son Ichacha won the TAB.co.za Maiden Plate (1400m).
The Tyrone Zackey trained gelding, under Kabelo Matsunyane, stormed home to break his maiden convincingly by two and a quarter lengths.
Another bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Ichacha is out of the Western Winter mare Babbling Brooke.
