Mauritzfontein’s resident sire Ideal World had a good day on Wednesday, when the son of Kingmambo had two winners at Hollywoodbets Greyville. Ideal World’s first success on Wednesday came when his son Pascali ran out an impressive winner of the fifth race on the card.
Under Chase Maujean, Pascali hit the front 200m from home and stormed home to win the Track And Ball Gaming MR 64 Handicap (1600m) as he liked by three and a half lengths. Trained by Garth Puller, the gelded Pascali was winning for a second time when he scored on Wednesday.
Bred by Peter de Beyer, Pascali is out of the Dynasty mare White Rose.
Ideal World is also the sire of Diani, who flew up late to land the seventh race at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday. Trained by Dennis Bosch, Diani was given a superb ride by Serino Moodley, who managed to time his ride to perfection, with Diani getting up in the shadow of the post to claim the Soccer Any13 MR 87 Handicap (1200m) by a neck going away.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, four-year-old Diani had shown great promise earlier in his career when he reeled off four wins in a row, and Wednesday’s victory was the gelding’s fifth win in total.
Diani is out of the Tiger Ridge mare Mombasa.
Ideal World, himself a half-brother to G1 Prix Jean Romanaut winner Romantica, hails from a family which continues to produce top-class performers. His G1 Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winning close relative Belbek, whose dam Bee Queen is out of Ideal World’s half-sister Trojan Queen, is set to start his stud career in 2024, as is another close relative of Ideal World -G1 Grand Prix de Paris winner Onesto.
