Mauritzfontein’s consistently successful sire Ideal World came up with his 31st stakes winner when his promising son Perfection won the Listed East Cape Guineas (1600m) at Fairview on Friday.
The Gavin Smith trained three-year-old made it four wins from just eight starts with a smart performance in the East Cape Guineas.
Under JP Van Der Merwe, Perfection raced wide early on before going up to make the running.
The gelding turned the race into a one-horse affair with Perfection powering away to win as he liked by three and three-quarter lengths.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Perfection was a R150 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.
Out of the Not For Sale mare Quintessential, Perfection is closely related to the Ideal World sired Listed Glenlair Trophy/Listed PE Gold Cup winner Onesie.
His sire Ideal World has more than made his mark at stud as the sire of former Horse Of The Year Rainbow Bridge and fellow Met winner Smart Call.
The son of Kingmambo has two lots on offer at the 2023 National Yearling Sale, including a colt (Lot 2) out of a nine time winning daughter of Silvano.
