Mauritzfontein’s promising young sire Danon Platina came up with his seventh winner when Linkin Navigator, a gelding from his sire’s first crop, ran out a convincing winner at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.
The grey, who was making his first start in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, was given a positive by Gavin Lerena in Saturday’s The Independent On Saturday Then And Now Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m).

Lerena positioned his mount just off the early pace before he unleashed Linkin Navigator close home.
From there, the Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained two-year-old powered away to win impressively by nearly two and three-quarter lengths.
Linkin Navigator, who had finished third on debut before finishing second and third respectively in his next two starts, was bred by Laurence Wernars and the Syrilla Stud.
He is out of the Commands mare Carmalita.
His sire Danon Platina has made a very pleasing start with his first two-year-olds this season, and the champion son of champion racehorse and sire Deep Impact is currently second on the Leading First Season Sires premiership for 2022-2023.
Japan’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2014, Danon Platina also went close to enjoying a double at Turffontein on Thursday where son French Impact ran second in the first race on the card, and daughter White Pearl filling the same position in the third race.
